S&P Global Ratings changed on Friday 6 December 2019 Senegal’s sovereign credit rating outlook to stable from positive and affirmed the debt grade at ‘B+’, citing as main trigger behind the revision the government's recurrent below-the-line deviations from its fiscal target over the past two years. Moody's credit rating for Senegal was last set at Ba3 with stable outlook.

The annual inflation rate in Senegal rose to 1.3 percent in October 2019 from 0.7 percent in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.7 percent vs 0.1 percent in September); housing & utilities (0.2 percent, after being flat in the prior month); clothing & footwear (1 percent vs 0.9 percent) and transport (1.9 percent, the same pace as in September). Conversely, cost slowed for miscellaneous goods & services (0.9 percent vs 1.1 percent) and recreation & culture (0.4 percent vs 0.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.4 percent, the same pace as in the previous month.
